Sarojini Naidu Vanita Maha Vidyalaya is a premier educational institution in the state of Telangana. It is one of the leading colleges in the Southern States of India.
Sarojini Naidu Vanita Mahavidyalaya was established in 1962 by the Osmania Graduates’ Association. It has evolved since then, from a tiny tutorial college with 39 students (known as U.W.C.A in 1957) to a strength of 3500. It is affiliated to the Osmania University, for Under Gradaute and Post Graduate courses, recognised by UGC, under 2(f) and 12(B) under the Act of 1956, by the AICTE for its Business Management Programme and Board of Intermediate for its Intermediate course. It is one of the largest Women’s college in the state of Telangana.
Named after the great freedom fighter “Sarojini Naidu” and the foundation stone of the college building laid by yet another stalwart freedom fighter “Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan” must signify something – YES, a fierce dedication to the “SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE!”.
Since the time of its inception, it has always been the endeavour of Sarojini Naidu Vanita Mahavidyalaya to keep abreast and be ahead of its times. The institution offers all the conventional courses at undergraduate level in Arts, Science and Commerce. To cater to the growing urge of higher education for women in the conservative sections of the Society, Sarojini Naidu Vanita Mahavidyalaya has introduced, several self financed courses in B.Sc. with Microbiology, Computer Science, Electronics, Biochemistry and Nutrition and B.Com Computers at the U.G level. Post Graduate Degree Courses are offered in Commerce (M.Com), English Literature (M.A), M.B.A, M.Sc. in Botany with Applied Botany Tissue Culture as specialization, M.Sc. (Zoology) with Sericulture as specialization, M.Sc. (Chemistry) with Organic Chemistry as specialization and M.Sc. (Physics) with Electronics as specialization. Sarojini Naidu Vanita Maha Vidyalaya is the first college to install the Internet to facilitate the research students to access information from the world over.
Sarojini Naidu Vanita Mahavidyalaya has a team of highly qualified and truly dedicated teaching staff, numbering about 140 whose endeavor is to give their best to the students.
The college has a formidable collection of about 65,000 books and audio visual aids that are housed in three separate libraries to cater to the requirements of the students at the Under Graduate; Post Gradate and Research levels.
The Institution has its own buildings set in a serene, peaceful 4 acre campus. This magnificent building house well equipped laboratories, libraries, about 80 classrooms and facilities for indoor as well as outdoor sports and games. The college attracts the best talent in sports. The past and present sports records are evidence of our impressive performance at the State, National and International levels. The College offers Hostel accommodation to students who are not residents of Hyderabad. The Hostel has spacious well equipped rooms with all modern conveniences.
To foster the overall development of the students, a healthy atmosphere is created by including a rich component of extra and co-curricular activities like the NSS, NCC, Literary and Cultural Association, Arts and Crafts Clubs, Sangeet Vanita and NIPUNI. The College has also a full-fledged counselling centre for the students which offer placements and personal counselling and short term courses under ‘Earn While You Learn Scheme.
